After submitting your bid in a sealed bid tender, you may want to lower the price, correct an item or pull out of the tender. Since the buyer cannot see bids until the bid deadline, these have no effect on competition.
Where
Open the My Bid tab on the tender page. Below your bid, on the line "You can change or withdraw your bid until the bid deadline.", there are two buttons: Withdraw Bid and Update Bid.
Updating the bid
- Click Update Bid in the My Bid tab. The form opens with your current bid.
- Correct the fields you want to change.
- Click the Update Bid button at the bottom of the form. When you see the "Your bid was updated" message, the new version has replaced the old one.
You can update as many times as you like until the bid deadline. The latest version goes into the evaluation.
Withdrawing the bid
- Click Withdraw Bid in the My Bid tab.
- Confirm with Yes, Withdraw in the window that opens.
Your bid is removed from the evaluation and the buyer is notified. The page shows the date you withdrew your bid.
Before time is up, you can bid again with Submit Bid. If you will not take part in the tender at all, click Decline Invitation; the buyer will not expect a bid from you.
When it can be done
| Situation | Update | Withdraw |
|---|---|---|
| Before the bid deadline | Yes | Yes |
| The bid deadline has passed | No | No |
| The buyer opened the envelopes | No | No |
| A bid in an earlier, closed round | No | No |
| Open auction | Only a new, lower bid | No |
If everyone expected to bid has bid, the buyer can open the envelopes before time is up. When the envelopes open, your bid is locked.
In a tender with several rounds
If the buyer started a new round, you submit, update and, until the round closes, withdraw your current bid from the round tab (for example Round 2). Bids from earlier rounds are locked.
If you withdraw your bid in the second or a later round, your bid from the previous round stays in the evaluation.
